Our Philosophy

At City Kids, we aim to create an environment that draws out the unique potential of each individual child.

We actively acknowledge the traditional owners of this land - the Kulin Nation Tribe and strive to provide our children and families with local Aboriginal cultural information and knowledge. City Kids environment is stimulating, diverse and reflective of children’s interests, development, individual personalities, family culture and the community in which we live. We encourage, value, respect and engage our family groups and communities as integral mechanisms for the function of our centre. We aim to be leaders of our community.

We honor collaboration and celebration with our children, educators, families and our community at Southbank, and throughout the world around us.

Our Educators practice bonding and attachment with children through respectful, reciprocal, purposeful and safe relationships. We create and embrace a child safe environment in which children can thrive and learn.

We value consistency and stability of care, and carefully select our educators and leaders for permanence, quality and ability. City Kids is committed to nurturing our future educators as students through placement and training; and we pride ourselves in having strong links with melbourne universities to help our team achieve this goal.

We are reflective of our practices and remain abreast of legislation, child development, research and Child Safe Standards so that we may continuously improve the care and education that we provide for our children and the community.
